Matchday 22 Review – Tokyo Verdy 2-1 Faginao Okayama (2016)

Matchday 22 Review – Tokyo Verdy 2-1 Faginao Okayama

Verdy picked up a very good win against Okayama who are currently in the top 5 of the league but Verdy find themselves still in the bottom 5 after some results in Matchday 22 – like V-Varen beating FC Gifu, Mito beating Chiba, Sanuki drew with Ehime – but a great win does fill the confidence of going into the next game. To the game, it didn’t start off so well for Verdy on 15 minutes when Vieira was tackled and the Okayama player fell on Vieira’s legs and Vieira had to be stretchered off, he was replaced by Daisuke Takagi – not sure how long Vieira will be out for, hopefully won’t be too long – still to come back from injury is Alan Pinheiro – 2 strikers out – what are the odds, the first chance of the game went to Okayama – cross into the box, headed by the Okayama FW but was put past the post by Suzuki – the next chance for Okayama came from a corner and was easily saved by Suzuki, then came Verdy’s first goal – a pass up the field to Koki Anzai, Koki controlled it but he was pushed in the back in the box – Penalty Verdy and Yellow Card for Okayama’s Tadashi Takeda – Chugo steps up to take the penalty and calmly slots the ball into the left hand side of the net to make it 1-0 Verdy, another Verdy player had to be stretchered off, 2nd half was like the start of the first when Okayama had the first chance but Okayama scored after a bit of a scramble in the box – Okayama’s scorer Yuki Oshitani, it was almost 2-1 Okayama after a DF mistake, but the Okayama player hit the cross bar – let off for Verdy, it was a decent chance for Verdy by Futagawa but was over the bar, Okayama had another decent chance but was saved by Suzuki and cleared away, another great chance for Okayama saw Suzuki had to touch the ball (it seemed like it to me) to clear away a chance that could of gone into the goal or somewhere else but it went wide, but Verdy made it 2-1 after Futagawa got down the left hand side of the pitch, he crossed it in and Ibayashi ran into the box and he scored with a flying header but Verdy had to hold on after Okayama had a chance but was stopped by a double save, final score – Tokyo Verdy won 2-1
