Matchday 35 Review – Tokyo Verdy 1-1 Giravanz Kitakyushu (2016)

Matchday 35 Review – Tokyo Verdy 1-1 Giravanz Kitakyushu

Verdy settled for a point against Giravanz Kitakyushu, it didn’t start off that well at all for Verdy when Kitakyushu took a 1-0 lead just under a minute into the game (57 seconds to be exact) thanks to Rui Komatsu running into the box and scoring past Shibasaki into the bottom left hand side of the goal, Verdy had a great chance on the 24th minute when Vieira had a great shot that was touched by the Kitakyushu GK and the ball hit the post – so Verdy went close, but Verdy equalised a few minutes later when a cross into the box found Sawai who headed back into the centre of the box and there was Takahiro Futagawa to strike the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1, on the 34th minute – Verdy had a great chance – a defence splitting pass to Sawai only found the Kitakyushu GK’s feet to clear the ball away, just before Half Time – Watanabe had a good chance from about 20 yards or so only for the Kitakyushu GK to touch it past the post to make it 1-1 at half time. 2nd half it was Kitakyushu who had the first chance of the half – another DF splitting pass found Komatsu but Shibasaki was out quickly and was cleared, another good chance for Verdy in the 63rd minute but it was straight at the Kitakyushu GK, Sawai had another good chance after a good cross into the box in the 79th minute but he hit it wide – another good chance missed, Shibasaki had to pull off a great save on the 81st minute after a Kitakyushu shot deflected off a player (not sure who) but Shibasaki palmed it away and the game finished 1-1. Decent point in the end after conceding so early on into the game.
