Matchday 37 Review – Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo 1-2 Tokyo Verdy

Verdy managed to pull off a magnificent result at the home of J2 Leaders Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo – even with Sapporo having chance after chance they couldn’t get it into the back of the net, looking at the stats, Sapporo had 15 shots and Verdy only had 6 shots but scored 2 of them, it’s a big 3 points for Verdy towards the end of the season with only 5 matchday’s to go.
To the game itself – Sapporo’s first big chance in the game when they hit the post and in the scramble found the ball in the net but it was rightly ruled out for offside, a let off for Verdy, Verdy’s goal came from a long ball down field to Daisuke Takagi who ran past a stuttering Sapporo DF and the GK comes out of his goal and tried to stop the shot but Daisuke got the ball past the Sapporo GK to make it 1-0 Verdy, Sapporo kept having some great chances to score but they were mostly over the bar – Verdy took a shock 2-0 lead on the 60th minute – a cross into the box found Vieira and he controlled it and he shot towards the goal after the beat the Sapporo DF and it hit another Sapporo DF who tried to stop it going over the line but he didn’t and it was 2-0 Verdy – it wasn’t going Sappro’s way at all in the game after Kazuki Anzai cleared a chance off the line but Sapporo finally got a goal in this game from a Free Kick thanks to Akito Fukumori – now Sapporo were back in the game and almost got a second goal thanks to a shot by Yuto Horigome from about 40 or so yards out but he hit the cross bar, Sapporo kept applying the pressure on the Verdy DF but they kept them out and the final whistle went with the Verdy fans and players celebrating a big win.
