Matchday 39 Review – Tokyo Verdy 2-2 Renofa Yamaguchi (2016)

Matchday 39 Review – Tokyo Verdy 2-2 Renofa Yamaguchi

Verdy battled to 2-2 draw against Renofa Yamaguchi, it started off so well for Verdy when Vieira gotten a head to the ball after a lovely cross into the box by Koki Anzai found the head of Vieira and he had such power on the header that the Renofa GK couldn’t get anywhere near it, it wasn’t long till Renofa got a equaliser on the 19th minute after a low cross into the Verdy box and it was Renofa’s number 8 Shimaya who got the ball before a Verdy DF and it was 1-1, it was 2-1 Renofa only a couple minutes later when a Renofa player shot at the goal and then it deflected off the post and the goalscorer Yuya Torikai was left unmarked and he headed it into the net and the away fans were jumping for joy with that goal, Verdy almost got a equaliser – Sawai took a shot and it deflected back off the post. Into the 2nd half – Renofa had a couple of good chances but Verdy got the equaliser from a corner – the corner came into the box and there was Tomohiro Taira who got his header into the back of the net to make it 2-2, Renofa though they had scored a 3rd goal – there was a free kick to Renofa – they took the free kick really quickly, the Verdy players stopped as they though the ref had blew the whistle but the Renofa player continued and chipped Suzuki but Verdy protested against the goal as when the Free Kick was taken – it was still travelling, there was some talk between the ref and the officials – the goal was ruled out so it was back to 2-2 – the Verdy players were happy with the decision but the Renofa management/players weren’t happy with the decision but after 100 minutes of football it finally finished 2-2. A lot of carry on at the end though.
