Matchday 1 2017 Review – Tokushima Vortis 1-0 Tokyo Verdy

Verdy started off the 2017 Season with a defeat to Tokushima Vortis, the only goal of the game coming in the 26th minute thanks to Taro Suigmoto. It was the first game in charge for Lotina and Santiago and they left Vortis with nothing. Looking at the game, Vortis had the first chance where Mawatari just put past the post, but then a few minutes later Vortis got the only goal of the gamewhen Mawatari got into the box and then he passed it to Sugimoto who was free in the box and he blasts it into the back of the net to make it 1-0, into the 2nd half – Vortis had another good chance thanks to Yamasaki but Verdy GK Shibasaki was strong and he saved Hirose’s rebound as well, Verdy had a decent chance after a throw into the box was headed out and then kicked back into the box but really couldn’t get it near the goal and were crowded out by the Vortis defence so Uchida couldn’t get the shot anywhere near the goal.
