Matchday 20 2017 Preview – FC Machida Zelvia v Tokyo Verdy

Verdy’s 20th game of the 2017 season is Away to FC Machida Zelvia at Machida Stadium. It’s back to league action after the disappointment of going out of the Emperors Cup at the the 2nd Round, but our opponents also got knocked out of the Emperors Cup against another fellow J2 side in Oita Trinita (see Look At Our Opponents below) and Zelvia are not doing great in J2 either, they currently sit in 17th place with 23 points with 5 wins, 8 draws and 6 losses, but Verdy are not on that great of a run either in the last 5 games but see themselves in 6th place with 31 points, let’s have a look at the head to head between both sides, the last time the 2 teams played each other was in the 2016 season was a 2-1 win for Zelvia over Verdy – 2 Nakamura goals saw Zelvia 2-0 at half time but Taira reduced the scoreline to make it 2-1, this will be the 5th meeting these sides and its advantage to the home team wirh Zelvia winning 2 of the 4 games already played and Verdy with 1 (2012 Season) win and 1 draw (2012 Season as well), fingers crossed Verdy can get a good result this weekend after the result on Wednesday. LET’S FIGHT TOWARDS VICTORY.

Look At Our Opponents –
Let’s have a look at Zelvia’s last game against Oita Trinita in the Emperors Cup this midweek, for Oita it was a win for the high J2 side in the table with a 4-2 win over Zelvia, it started bad for Zelvia when Daisuke Sakai scored Oita’s first goal on the 16th minute, near the the end of the first half Zelvia got back into the game thanks to a own goal (37th min) but Oita got their second goal just minutes before half time thanks to Kohei Isa – half time it was Oita 2-1 up, with 30 mins to go, Oita took a 3-1 lead with thanks to Kohei Isa’s second goal on the 73rd minute but only a couple of minutes later Zelvia got back into the game with Hiroki Todaka scoring Zelvia’s second goal but it was in injury time in the second half when Yuya Himeno scored Oita’s fourth goal to make the final score – Zelvia 2-4 Oita and Oita go into the third round of the cup.

Emperors Cup 2nd Round 2017 Short Review – JEF United Chiba 1-0 Tokyo Verdy

Emperors Cup 2nd Round 2017 Review –JEF United Chiba 1-0 Tokyo Verdy

Verdy went out of the Emperors Cup in the very early stages after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of fellow J2 side JEF United Chiba with the only goal of the game came in the 26th minute after Koki Kiyotake – you can see all the stats/info down below this, but its back to league action for Verdy when they play Machida Zelvia at Machida Stadium. Sorry it’s a very short review as i couldn’t find any highlights of the game, but let’s have a look at the results of the Emperors Cup 2nd Round – there was a few shocks on the cards – J1 side Ventforet Kofu lost 1-0 at home to JFL side Vanraure Hachinohe, another shock was J1 side FC Tokyo lost on penalties to J3 side Nagano Parceiro and another shock was Iwaki FC of Fukushima Prefecture got a 5-2 AET win over J1 side Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo – always love that about a cup competition, you never know what will happen.

Emperors Cup 2nd Round 2017 Preview – JEF United Chiba v Tokyo Verdy

Verdy’s first cup game of the 2017 season is Away to JEF United Chiba at Fukuda Denshi Arena in the Emperors Cup Second Round. Well here is the first cup game of the 2017 season and it couldn’t be harder than JEF United Chiba with Verdy not having that great of a away record – 8 Away Games – Won 2, Drawn 2, Lost 4, so it’s not too great, but Verdy have already played Chiba in a league game, it was Matchday 14 and Verdy won by 3 goals to 0 with Alan Pinheiro and 2 goals from Yoshiaki Takagi sealed the 3 points in the league game, but a cup game is a totally different story and who knows what will happen, fingers crossed for something good to come out of this game. Matchday 19 2017 Review – Tokyo Verdy 3-3 Ehime FC

Matchday 19 2017 Review – Tokyo Verdy 3-3 Ehime FC

Verdy were in a thrilling game against Ehime FC with the score ending in a 3 all draw, to the game itself, Verdy had a great chance first up after Alan Pinheiro just shot over the bar, but it was first blood to Verdy early on in the game thanks to a Douglas Vieira goal in the 15th minute after some good football between Koki and Pinheiro and after a pin point cross from Koki Anzai found Vieira was left unmarked and he headed the ball into the back of the net, decent chance for Vieira in the 39th minute but it was Ehime who scored the first goal of the second half after a cross back out to Kazuhisa Kawahara who shot just outside the D and the ball went into the back of the net to make it 1-1, and it was a few minutes later and Ehime made it 2-1 after some passing play – the ball got passed off to Kosuke Shirai who blasted it into the back of the net but Vieira got his second goal of the game and Verdy’s equaliser on the 69th minute to make it 2-2 after a shot by Koki Anzai deflected off Douglas Vieira to desive the Ehime goalkeeper and it went into the back of the net, with almost 90 minutes up in the game, Ehime got back ahead on the 90th minute after a counter attack and the ball was passed off to Takashi Kondo and he shot found the top left of the net and settled into the back of the net to make it 3-2 to Ehime but the game still wasn’t over when Shion Inoue crossed a ball into the box and the ref gave a penalty to Verdy after Kosuke Shirai was thought to have used a high boot and give away the penalty and it was up to Yoshiaki Takagi to score the penalty – he steps up and puts the ball into the right hand side of the net and the Ehime GK went the wrong way so it finished 3-3 between the teams, what a entertaining game it was.

Matchday 19 2017 Preview – Tokyo Verdy v Ehime FC

Verdy’s 19th game of the 2017 J2 season is at Home to Ehime FC at Ajinomoto Stadium. It was back to winning way for Verdy against Nagoya Grampus last weekend with a 2-1 win, so it’s onto the next home game against Ehime FC at Ajinomoto Stadium, it was a good win over Nagoya last weekend who were above Verdy in the table and are only 1 point behind them now, Ehime currently sit in 7th place with the same points as Verdy but below them on goal difference so it will be a interesting match up to say the least, let’s have a look at the head to head between both teams – Verdy wins 8, Draws 4, Ehime wins 11, so it advantage to Ehime in the past few years but with home advantage it could go either way, let’s hope for a good result anyway. Matchday 18 2017 Review – Tokyo Verdy 2-1 Nagoya Grampus

Matchday 18 2017 Review –Tokyo Verdy 2-1 Nagoya Grampus

Verdy got there first win in 4 games after a close 2-1 win over Nagoya Grampus at the Ajinomoto Stadium – somehow Grampus hit the post and the bar – how did they not win the game out right is beyond me but 2 goals in the second half by Douglas Vieira sealed all 3 points for Verdy with another home game to come, to the game, it was Nagoya who took the lead after some good football – the ball found Koki Sugimori near the D and he shot and it went into the top left hand corner to make it 1-0 to Grampus – Shibasaki couldn’t get much of the ball at all and Sugimori wasn’t marked that well but it was Grampus on the board first, Verdy though they had a goal after a strong shot by Daisuke Takagi found the back of the net but was ruled offside after it seems like Kajikawa was thought to be in a offside position and the goal didn’t stand to the dismay of Daisuke and the Verdy bench. Into the second half and Nagoya had a great chance to score their second but the goal scorer Sugimori could only hit the crossbar – a real let off for Verdy, but it was Verdy who came back into the game and Verdy did equalise after a cross into the box by Alan Pinheiro found the head of Douglas Vieira after the Nagoya GK missed the ball and Vieira headed the ball into the back of the net – Vieira hobbled back to the half way line but he was okay, he carried on and he got the winning goal after a beautiful defence splitting ball up the field by Hideo Hashimoto (what a ball!!!) – that ball found Vieira just outside the D and he dribbled the ball into the box and past the Nagoya GK into the back of the net to make it 2-1 to Verdy. What a turn around by the players,

Matchday 18 2017 Preview – Tokyo Verdy v Nagoya Grampus

Verdy’s 18th game of the 2017 J2 season is at Home to Nagoya Grampus at Ajinomoto Stadium. Verdy got a point from their last game after Kazuki Anzai sealed a point against Matsumoto Yamaga, this time it’s one of 2 home games – first up its Nagoya Grampus, this is the first time Nagoya Grampus has been in J2 since they were founded, they finished 16th in the J1 2016 Season but Nagoya have started the 2017 Season in the Second Tier of the JLeague – they currently sit 3rd place with 9 wins, 4 draws and 4 draws on 31 points (2 points behind Avispa) while Verdy, who are in 6th, are 4 points behind the 3rd place side Nagoya, let’s have a look at the head to head between the 2 sides – they started playing each other in 1998 till 2008 (didn’t play each other in the 2006 and 2007 Season) as Nagoya were in J1 and Verdy dropped down to J2 – so this is the first time in 9 years since they last played each other, let’s have a look at the numbers of games each team have won or drawn games – Verdy wins 8, Draws 4, Nagoya wins 10 (out of 22) – so it’s quite close between them, let’s hope Verdy can hope home advantage counts towards getting a good result. LET’S FIGHT TOWARDS VICTORY.
