Verdy’s 21st game of the 2018 season is at Home to Tochigi SC at Ajinomoto Stadium. This is the second home game in a double header where Verdy this time face Tochigi SC, Verdy are back on form with being unbeaten in the last 5 games with 4 league games (2 wins and 2 draws) and a Emperors Cup win under their belt, things have been looking up for the boys in green after the slump they had, Tochigi are back in J2 after a couple of seasons in J3 after being relegated from J2 back in the 2015 season but the start of the 2018 season hasn’t been all that great with Tochigi currently in 19th place with 5 wins, 5 draws and 9 losses, the last time the two teams met was back in that 2015 season where Tochigi were relegated and it was a Verdy win at home in the 2015 season with Hiramoto, Chugo and Daisuke Takagi and for Tochigi it was Sugimoto who got both goals and he still plays for Tochigi but hasn’t featured as much, let’s hope Verdy can keep the good run going and get something from this game. Matchday 19 2018 Season Review – Tokyo Verdy 3-1 Kyoto Sanga

Verdy got their second win in a row when they beat Kyoto Sanga 3-1 at home, it’s another good result for the boys in Green, to the game itself, it started off with Kyoto Sanga taking the lead very inside the first 25 minutes when a short cross into the box from Sergio Escudero found the head of Renzo Lopez headed the ball past Naoto Kamifukumoto in the Verdy goal to make it 1-0 to Kyoto, but Verdy almost got back into the game after Kota Watanabe got into the box and the ball was blocked and it came back to Kanya Fujimoto and he shot from the right hand side of the box and Keisuke Shimizu in the Kyoto Goal saved the ball and it was cleared away, but Verdy got on level terms when a cross from the right hand side from Naoya Tamura found the head of Ryohei Hayashi and he headed into the back of the net past a helpless Shimizu in the goal to make it 1-1, into the second half and it was Fujimoto who pressured a Kyoto DF and Fujimoto got the ball off him and he passed it too Watanabe who crossed into into the box and found Yuhei Sato alone and his diving header went into the back of the net to make it 2-1 to Verdy, then Verdy made it 3-1 after a free kick from Kajikawa, the ball came into the box and the ball found the head of R Hayashi and it somehow went past the keeper to make it 3-1, the full time whistle went, a big win for Verdy.

Matchday 19 2018 Season Preview – Tokyo Verdy v Kyoto Sanga

Verdy’s 20th game of the 2018 season is at Home to Kyoto Sanga at Ajinomoto Stadium. It’s another double header at home with this Saturday, its Kyoto Sanga up first at Ajinomoto Stadium, after having a bit of a bad patch in May – now the month of June has been a lot better by getting back to winning ways after the cup win over Toyama and then the win over Niigata and the 2 draws against Ehime and Yokohama has pulled Verdy up the table, Kyoto have not had a great start to their 2018 season with them currently sitting in the bottom 3 of the league with only 4 wins from their 18 league games, now onto the head to head between the 2 clubs – it’s 1 win each between Verdy and Kyoto, Verdy did win the 2017 Season Away game with a 1-0 win with Alan Pinheiro the goal scorer to get those 3 points, let’s hope Verdy can continue their decent run and get something from this game. Matchday 18 2018 Season Review – Albirex Niigata 1-2 Tokyo Verdy

Verdy got themselves back to winning ways in the league with a 2-1 away win against Albirex Niigata, it was a big 3 points for Verdy after getting back to winning ways in the Emperors Cup game, let’s have a look at the game itself, it was Sachiro Toshima who was sprinting down the right wing, he passed it to ex Verdy player Yoshiaki Takagi and he passed it into the box for Masaru Kato to put away into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Niigata, then it was a good chance for Niigata when a ball was chipped over the Verdy defence and then Arata Watanabe got the ball and he got a shot off after a struggle with a Verdy DF but Naoto Kamifukumoto was in the right place at the right time to save it, now into the second half, it was Verdy who equalised when some lovely play between 3 Verdy players came up with a goal for Verdy to equalise – Kota Watanabe who started the passing play, he put the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1 but Verdy took the lead for the first time in the match when a long ball up field found the Niigata defence ball watching and Ryohei Hayashi ran past the Niigata and he was onside and he got the ball when the Niigata defence were catching up to him and R Hayashi put the ball past Alex Muralha in the Niigata goal to make it 2-1 to Verdy, there was a late chance for Niigata but Kamifukumoto got the all important save.

Matchday 18 2018 Season Preview – Albirex Niigata v Tokyo Verdy

Verdy’s 19th game of the 2018 season is Away to Albirex Niigata at Denka Big Swan Stadium. It’s back into the league for Verdy after the cup win against Kataller Toyama, this time it’s the second game of a double away games when Verdy visit the home of Albirex Niigata, Albirex Niigata’s last game was in the Emperors Cup against Kochi United when a much changed Niigata side went all the way to penalties and went through to the Third Round where they’ll play FC Tokyo Away at Ajinomoto Stadium, also I’ve put the team from the last league game when they played FC Gifu and lost 2-1, a different Verdy side won their second round game in injury time when they beat Kataller Toyama 3-2 after a late Yong Jick Lee goal sealed progression into the next round where they’ll face Kwansei Gakuin University away after Kwansei beat Gamba Osaka in Extra Time, the head to head between the 2 sides looks like this – it’s a short head to head between Verdy and Niigata – they’ve played 7 games against each other and Verdy have won 4 games and drawn 3 games over all, the last time they actually played each other was in the 2008 Season where the away game was drawn 0-0m, Verdy currently sit in 15th place while Niigata are only a point ahead in 13th place, let’s hope after the cup win that Verdy can get something from this game and climb up the table more. LET’S FIGHT TOWARDS VICTORY.
