Matchday 33 2019 Season Review – Omiya Ardija 2-0 Tokyo Verdy

Matchday 33 2019 Season Review – Omiya Ardija 2-0 Tokyo Verdy

Verdy fell to a 2-0 defeat to playoff chasing Omiya Ardija, it was 1 goal each half for Omiya to clinch 3 points in their quest for either a automatic place or playoff’s as the points between 2nd and 11th are only 8 points and Verdy are still within a chance of the playoff’s still, to the game itself, very early on in the game, it was a free kick for Omiya, free kick taken by Ippei Shinozuka, it was swung in, the Omiya player Robin Simovic got his head onto the ball and headed it towards goal but Naoto Kamifukumoto got his knees to save the ball and then the ball came out and Hiroyuki Komoto who got a chance but Kamifukumoto was in the way again as the ball came off his chest and went out for a corner, it was another corner later on from the other side of the pitch, the ball somehow found Shinozuka at the near post and it went into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Omiya, then a few minutes later it was a great chance for Verdy, the ball found Klebinho, his shot was saved by Takashi Kasahara and went out for a Verdy corner – great chance by Klebinho, now into the second half, Omiya were on the attack again and it was Akinari Kawazura who had his shot in the box but Kamifukumoto got a touch to the ball and went out for a Omiya corner, but Omiya had another corner and they made it 2-0 after the ball came into the box and Kamifukumoto went for the ball but the ball went past him and it found Juanma Delgado, his shot deflected off to Noriyoshi Sakai who put the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 but after 4 minutes of injury time, the ref blew his full time whistle and Omiya took all 3 points.

Matchday 19 2019 Season Review – Tokyo Verdy 0-0 Omiya Ardija

Matchday 19 2019 Season Review – Tokyo Verdy 0-0 Omiya Ardija

Verdy sealed a point against Omiya Ardija last weekend and kept another clean sheet against Omiya who are still in the top 2 and kept Verdy in touching distance of the play-offs after this result, to the game itself, it was Verdy who had the first chance of the game when a cross into the box from Ryota Kajikawa which deflected off a Omiya Defender and then Takuya Nagata had a chance but put it over the bar, Verdy had another good chance when Yuhei Sato shot from about 30/35 yards out and Hitoshi Shiota in the Omiya goal saved to put it out for a corner, Omiya had the next chance when Kanji Okunuki tried to thread the ball around the Verdy defenders but put his shot into the side netting, now into the second half, Omiya probably had the best chance to score – it was a low cross in from the left found the foot of Masato Kojima but Tomohiro Taira seemed to have took the sting off the ball and Naoto Kamifukumoto saved it, Omiya went very close again when a cross into the box found Toshiki Ishikawa – if he got the right touch on the ball, it could have been a goal, Omiya got the last chance of the game when Akimi Barada was in space while Kamifukumoto was rushing out of his goal but Barada chipped the ball over the bar but the final score was a 0-0 and a point for both teams.

Matchday 19 2019 Season Preview – Tokyo Verdy v Omiya Ardija

Verdy’s 19th game of the 2019 season is at Home to Omiya Ardija at Ajinomoto Stadium. Verdy return to Ajinomoto on the back of a victory over Ventforet Kofu and go into Saturday’s game with much happier vibes after the 2 results before that were not great, but Verdy will want to try and keep that winning run going with the visit of Omiya Ardija who won 2-1 with the injury time winner over FC Gifu (see Look At Our Opponents below) which sees the Squirrels in the top 2 and in automatic position after 18 games gone while Verdy kept up with teams around them with the 2-0 win over Kofu and are not far off and see themselves in 12th place (6 Wins/6 Draws/6 Loses), the head to head between the 2 sides from last season was Omiya and Verdy faced each other 3 times rather than the normal 2 – In Matchday 28 of the 2018 Season with Omiya winning 2-0 at home with Simovic (49’) and Mateus (89’) scoring for the home side but in Matchday 27 it was Verdy who got the victory when Pinheiro (12’) and Vieira (45’ +3’) scored for Verdy and Mkado scored for the away side Omiya, Verdy got another win when Verdy won 1-0 in the 1st Round of the Play-Off’s where Verdy got to the final but missed out on getting promoted to J1, but Verdy started off the play off’s with the win over Omiya when Taira (71’) scored the only goal of the game, fingers crossed Verdy can get something from this game. Matchday 43 (Play Off 1st Round) 2018 Season Review – Omiya Ardija 0-1 Tokyo Verdy

Matchday 43 (1st Round Place Off) 2018 Season Review – Omiya Ardija 0-1 Tokyo Verdy

Verdy qualified for the Semi Final of the Play Off’s with a 1-0 win over Omiya Ardija when the only goal of the game came with 20 minutes to go of the game as Tomohiro Taira scored the goal to put the away side into the Semi final of the playoff’s and Verdy go onto face Yokohama FC at the weekend at the NHK Spring Stadium, to the game itself, from a Verdy corner, the ball was blocked and then the ball came back to the corner taker and then passed to Shion Inoue, his shot went well over the bar, then it was Yuhei Sato who had Verdy’s next chance – after some skill to get away from his defender, he had a shot which went wide, Omiya had a decent chance after a free kick and Verdy GK Naoto Kamifukumoto punched the ball away and the Omiya put in another cross into the box to Hiroto Hatao to have a shot but a Verdy Defender deflected it out for a corner but nothing came of it, into the second half, Tatsuya Uchida hit a shot that went well over the bar, but after this he was yellow carded and received a Red Card, seems a very harsh second yellow, but Verdy were down to 10 men for 30 minutes of the second half, with Verdy down to 10 men, Yuta Mikado got the ball off a Verdy player and then passed it to Mateus and he ran towards the Verdy goal but blasted his shot over the bar, Verdy got themselves a free kick on the left had side of the box, Sato took the free kick and then the ball found the head of Tomohiro Taira (seem liked he didn’t touch it but replays showed he did) and the ball went into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Verdy with about 20 minutes to go, Taira put his body on the line went a attempted bicycle kick by Genki Omae, Omae hit Taira not meaning to but Taira got the header away and got a free kick for his troubles, Omiya were desperate to get the equaliser, a long cross into the box and Kamifukumoto came along way out of his goal to try and punch it away but the ball found Takamitsu Tomiyama and he headed the ball towards the goal but second half sub Masashi Wakasa cleared the ball away off the line somehow, it was heart in mouth moment for both set of fans when a ball into the box for Robin Simovic, he controlled it on his chest and swivelled his body and shot which a Verdy DF was behind him and he hit the post but that was the last action and the Verdy Management got into a huddle after the full time whistle while the Verdy players were so pleased and were highfiving and hugging each other, great result by everyone involved, while the Omiya players looked dejected, whatever happens next weekend with Yokohama, I would like to wish Omiya all the best for next season.

Verdy’s 46th game of the 2018 season is Away to Omiya Ardija at Nack 5 Stadium. Verdy see themselves with a away game to Omiya Ardija in the Play Off 1st Round where whoever wins will play Yokohama FC in the Semi Final (because of Zelvia not having a J1 Licence – they can’t compete in the play off – they would have been facing Yokohama), Omiya can go through even if they draw the game as they finished above Verdy in J2 Table, in the last Matchday (42), Omiya came away from Okayama with a 1-0 win which put them in 5th place and qualifying for a playoff place while Verdy drew 1-1 with fellow Tokyo team Machida Zelvia to seal the final play off place while Avispa Fukuoka missed out by only a point, in the head to head between both teams for the 2018 Season, Omiya and Verdy won 1 home game against each other, Omiya won 2-0 with Simovic (49’) and Mateus (89’) getting the goals back in Matchday 11 (Sat 24th April) but Verdy won their home game on Matchday 27 (Sat 4th August) when they won 2-1 when Alan Pinheiro (12’) and Douglas Vieira (45’ +3’) scored for Verdy and Mikado (71’) scored the only goal for Omiya. Matchday 27 2018 Season Review – Tokyo Verdy 2-1 Omiya Ardija

Matchday 27 2018 Season Review – Tokyo Verdy 2-1 Omiya Ardija

Verdy sealed another 3 points with a 2-1 win over Omiya Ardija, that makes Verdy’s unbeaten run to 6 (cup/league) games which has pushed Verdy up to into the playoff zone, to the game itself, it was Verdy with the first goal of the game when a pass from Kanya Fujimoto to Kota Watanabe near the box, Watanabe got a cross into the box across the pitch and the ball found Alan Pinheiro in the right place at the right time and he put the ball into the back of the Omiya net to make it 1-0 after only 12 minutes and the Verdy players celebrated with a baby celebration, deep into injury time, Verdy doubled their lead after a little mix up by Jin Izumisawa, the ball went up into the air but the ball found the head of Douglas Vieira and Vieira’s header went over the Omiya GK and went into the back of the net to make it 2-0 – very strange how the goal came about but it was Verdy leading into half time, into the second half now, it wasn’t till 20 minutes to go till Omiya got a goal back when a through ball from a Omiya player to Mateus and he ran past the Verdy DF towards the goal and Naoto Kamifukumoto came out of his goal to try and get the ball off Mateus but Mateus passed it to Yuta Mikado who was up with him in the box and he put the ball into the back of the empty net to make it 2-1, then Omiya had a number of chances from a corner but Kamifukumoto held onto the ball and it finished up with Verdy winning in the end.

Matchday 11 2018 Season Review – Omiya Ardija 2-0 Tokyo Verdy

Matchday 11 2018 Season Review – Omiya Ardija 2-0 Tokyo Verdy

Verdy lost their first game of the J2 2018 Season as they lost 2-0 away to Omiya Ardija, every team in the league has at least lost one game, although it took Verdy till Matchday 11 to lose their first game, to the game itself, it was a good first chance for Verdy when a ball up field by Naoya Tamura found its way to Kota Watanabe and he backed healed it to Douglas Vieira – his shot was saved by Takashi Kasahara in the Omiya goal to go out for a corner, it was a great chance for Omiya – a quick free kick – a cross into the box from Akinari Kazazura found Genki Omae who shot towards goal and it was saved by Naoto Kamifukumoto in the Verdy goal and then the follow up chance from Shintaro Shimada was saved again by Kamifukumoto, Verdy had another good chance after a cross from the right hand side by Vieira – the cross found the head of Ryohei Hayashi who headed it towards goal but Kasahara saved it to keep it at 0-0, into the second half, it was Omiya who took the lead in the 49th minute when a through ball by Shintaro Shimada found Striker Robin Simovic and he went around Kamifukumoto and put it into the back of the empty net to make it 1-0 to Omiya, near the end of the game, it was the substitute Mateus who got the second goal, Mateus got the ball in midfield and he ran through the Verdy defence and he got into the box and put the ball past Kamifukumoto to make it 2-0. Shame to lose the unbeaten run but oh well, well done to Omiya.

Matchday 11 2018 Season Preview – Omiya Ardija v Tokyo Verdy

Verdy’s 11th game of the 2018 season is Away to Omiya Ardija at NACK5 Stadium. Verdy’s last game (In Matchday 10) was a big result with a 3-0 win over Mito Hollyhock, goals from Hatanaka, Vieira and Pinheiro sealed the 3 points and put Verdy into the play-off spot early days into the season, next game up for Verdy is a way game to Omiya Ardija, Omiya got relegated from J1 in the 2017 by finishing bottom of the league and came down to J2 with Niigata and Kofu (Verdy has already faced Kofu and drew 0-0), the last time these 2 teams faced each other was in the 2015 season where they faced each other 3 times – twice in the league and one in the Emperors Cup, in the league it’s one each with Verdy winning the away game 2-0 (Minami and Tamura scored) while Omiya winning their away game 1-0 (Tomiyama scored) with Omiya winning the Emperors Cup game 3-1 (Pinheiro scored for Verdy while Izumisawa and Watanabe scored for Omiya).
